Setting New Standards in Synthetic Waterproofing with VERSITEX PVC

A conversation with Mike Vaczi, Technical Director at SOPREMA UK

In the second of our two-part series looking at product innovations, we continue the conversation with Technical Director Mike Vaczi to learn more about VERSITEX PVC – our new synthetic waterproofing solution designed for exposed flat, inverted, barrel, mono-pitch and ballasted roofing applications.

Q: Mike, tell us about the development of VERSITEX PVC.

A: VERSITEX PVC represents over 50 years of SOPREMA's expertise in synthetic membrane manufacturing. We've developed it to meet modern architectural demands while maintaining the flexibility to suit various application methods and roof types. In particular, VERSITEX PVC has been created to offer a practical solution for smaller installation projects, such as residential flat roofs, which will be available via our distribution customers.

Q: What types of projects is VERSITEX PVC best suited for?

A: It's incredibly versatile. The system works exceptionally well on flat roofs, curved structures, and complex profiles. Whether it's a simple flat roof or a more challenging barrel or wave form design, VERSITEX PVC can handle it. We've designed it to be equally effective in both new build and refurbishment scenarios.

Q: What are the standout technical features?

A: The system offers remarkable longevity – we're looking at a lifetime exceeding 35 years. It maintains flexibility at low temperatures, provides high mechanical resistance, and offers exceptional dimensional stability. The UV and weathering resistance is particularly impressive, making it ideal for exposed applications, without compromising on aesthetics.

Sustainability was a key consideration in its development and the membrane is fully recyclable, with BBA certification.

Q: What would you say to installers considering VERSITEX PVC for their next project?

A: Consider the complete package – you're getting a highly durable, versatile waterproofing solution that's backed by SOPREMA's technical expertise and support. Whether you're working on a simple flat roof or a more complex design, VERSITEX PVC offers the flexibility and reliability you need for a successful installation.
