Waterproofing and insulation manufacturer SOPREMA opened the new training and knowledge centre in Grobbendonk (BE) last Friday, 30th June. The North West Europe Training Centre was solemnly inaugurated in the presence of the grandson of the founder and current owner of SOPREMA Pierre-Etienne Bindschedler, CEO of SOPREMA North-West Europe, Leo Hoekstra and Commercial Director of SOPREMA NV, Marc Geerts. With over 500 invited guests, an exclusive tour and a stylish opening party with the band “COOKIES & CREAM”, the new building is officially ready for use.
In just a few years, both the number of staff and the turnover has almost quadrupled. A new office building also launched; Leo Hoekstra, CEO SOPREMA North-West Europe: “SOPREMA considers sustainability very highly and therefore, we want to lead with a good example of the construction of this new training centre. We have invested 2.5 million euros into this ambitious project, and called on a construction team with the necessary knowledge, with both the contractor and architect to able to present sufficient experience on sustainable construction. We are also very proud of the curved vertical green roof, a real eye-catcher.”
The design of the new building has been created by architects Assymetric Architectes Associés. energy consultant Geert De Bruyn made sure that the building meets the requirements for a BEN building: Nearly Energy Neutral. Contractor Mathieu Gijbels is proud of this new reference project. “We are proud that we gained the confidence of SOPREMA to realize their building aspirations. We have put together a successful construction project.
“Every expert was first a beginner”, with this motto in mind, SOPREMA developed a brand new name for the training centre. “Our preference went quite quickly to: CLUB EXPERT. This name was logically derived from our company values. CLUB stands for the family feel that still prevails in our offices, but also for gathering and exchanging. The second part EXPERT speaks for itself: Knowledge. In short; the combination of a family atmosphere, strong customer service and technical expertise, “says Leo Hoekstra. “The new building is above all a meeting place for professionals: knowledge transfer and inspiration, which are the most important driving forces. From beginner to expert, SOPREMA provides a customised program for various types of waterproofing (bituminous – liquid – synthetic) & insulation (thermal – natural).
The new building is not only energy-intensive. The offices were also part of the project. “SOPREMA wants to grow together with its customers, thus providing not only training opportunities but also additional flexible desk office spaces for the growing team,” said Leo Hoekstra.
