• Products Used: SOPREMA Duoflex total inverted roof system

A brand new hospital in Middlesex will deliver efficient and much improved care to it’s patients.  The hospital includes new wards, an extension on one of its existing wings as well as the relocation of its existing energy centre.  With so much investment in the new hospital including state-of-the-art equipment, the roof design needed to be robust, provide security and require minimal maintenance throughout its lifetime.

This project was delivered through the Procure21 National Framework with six Principal Supply Chain Partners (PSCPs) and their supply chains.  SOPREMA are approved supply chain partners of Vinci, the main contractor who was awarded this prestigious project delivered by Integrated Health Projects (IHP).  SOPREMA, experts in waterproofing and insulation, worked together with project stakeholders to define the best value and performance system to meet the needs of this project, recommending the most robust and reliable roofing systems for a healthcare building.

With patient experience and investment in advanced equipment a priority at the new hospital, a robust waterproofing system was required to ensure low life cycle costs, minimal maintenance and guaranteed longevity.  Designed to last the lifetime of the structure to which it is applied, the Duoflex hot melt structural waterproofing and insulation system was specified for the vast inverted roof areas, totalling 4,500m2, which provided certified longevity and security for an incredibly important building.  The roofing and waterproofing system comprised of Duoflex SBS modified bitumen, a high tensile strength reinforcement, high performance inverted roof insulation and external finishes including paving supports, paving and ballast.

SOPREMA carried out regular site inspections and provided technical support from design to final project sign off, to ensure that all materials, detailing and installations were carried out according to SOPREMA’s specification, industry standards and client requirements. SOPREMA’s Approved Contractor; Roofline Group demonstrated  their extensive experience completing this project to an extremely high standard, on time and within budget. Roofline Group invest heavily into installer training, development and health & safety, as a part of their commitment to the supply chain and their clients.
